Assignment description for the AYAD: Establish relationships with schools: undertake training sessions with mixed groups of school children and teachers; promote gender equality; facilitate games between schools and establish a junior competition; and maintain existing competition with schools in Jakarta Train local facilitators and foster professional development opportunities: develop and tailor programs and training techniques to Indonesian children; manage translation and update existing football and training manuals; establish standard operating practices and procedures for broader management duties; manage day-to-day operations of the program; and monitor and evaluate fund-raising Develop cultural exchange: develop training materials on Australian culture; arrange games and training sessions between Indonesian schools and International schools to promote cultural exchange; create awareness and raise interest in AFL in schools; and investigate further opportunities for cross-cultural exchange Assignment outcomes to be achieved by the AYAD:
Assisted in the development of a program to use AFL to deliver better sporting education, health and gender equality outcomes Assisted with building the capacity of local facilitators in sports administration and project and people management Established relationships with additional schools as the basis for potential linkages with the program Assisted with organising school training sessions and games Assisted with establishing a junior competition, including tournaments Assisted with developing and tailoring programs and training techniques to Indonesian children Managed translation and updating of football and training manuals Assisted with establishing practices and procedures and producing a succession and sustainability plan Assisted with developing a monitoring and evaluation framework for the program Qualifications required by the AYAD: Qualifications related to sports science, coaching or other areas, or equivalent relevant experience Experience required by the AYAD: Extensive experience playing or coaching AFL Desirables: University qualifications, preferably in either Asian studies, sports management, international development, or teaching Level one, two or three coaching certificate Some proficiency in Bahasa Indonesian language, or willingness to learn Previous coaching experience Previous sport management experience
Description of assignment location:
The assignment will be located in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. Information on accommodation options: A range of accommodation options are available from one or two bedroom apartments, to share houses and boarding houses. Assistance with the identification of suitable, secure and affordable accommodation will be provided by the In-country Manager and the Host Organisation. Interim accommodation can be provided until suitable lodging can be found with one of the JBAFC members if needed.
